Palm Grove
2019
Client: Confidential | Project Type Private Residence | Team: DADA and Partners |
Conceived as an extension cum renovation project to a one level home, the proposed footprint forms a rectilinear plan that shoots off the old structural profile. This extension was juxtaposed to the idiosyncratic geometry of the existing palm trees cluster originally planted as a ‘doughnut’ like circular loop. The new plan was based on a rational with a public wing facing the palm grove, which now formed a backdrop canvas to the new house, while the private zone is housed in the refurbished old structure and the new upper level. Further, the upper level is dissected in two zones with the two master suites bridged across a double height ground level formal foyer. A series of granite clad feature walls separates the drive court from the private lawn on the ground floor. This accentuates the visitor’s arrival experience to the inner landscape of the house through the formal entrance.
